Wikipedia Data - Visualization (Series 1)

In the last two posts, we discussed data extraction and transformation. Data visualization is an invaluable skill for any student looking to stand out in college. Data visualization is the process of looking at the data so that general inferences and patterns can be made about the data.

One example of data visualization is creating a box plot, histogram, and violin plot to visualize the population of each county. With these three visualizations, students can gain insights into the population of each county and draw meaningful conclusions from the data. The violin plot is my favorite because you are able to see the density and skewness in 1 visualization.

Data visualization is a great way for high school students to gain experience with data and learn how to analyze it. With the right data and the right software, students can create meaningful visualizations and analyses that can help them stand out when it comes time to apply to college. With data visualization skills, students can demonstrate to college admissions officers that they are prepared to take on a college-level data analysis course. Data visualization is an essential skill for any student looking to succeed in college, and the earlier they gain this skill, the better.
